Fine acanthite specimens have been known from this locality for the past several years. Rarely are the crystals super sharp. The example shown here exhibits excellent sharp cubic crystals of metallic semi-lustrous gray acanthite to 0.9 cm on edge scattered over crystalline acanthite and breccia matrix. There are at least 6 excellent crystals present; the piece is undamaged. This is very fine for acanthite regardless of the locality. Size: 7.0 x 6.0 x 4.3 cm.

This is an outstanding well crystallized acanthite for China! The crystals are very sharply formed, measure to 15 mm on edge, and show a good luster and color for the species. Completely crystallized all around and free of damage. Minor native silver in association. Measures 5.3 x 4.5 x 3.4 cm in size overall. The quality is exceptional for the species!

A9508117) Anglesite - Touissit, Touissit District, Oujda-Angad Province, Oriental Region, Morocco

Price: $ 2000

I think that the finest examples of anglesite known have come from Morocco. The gem quality yellow crystals are coveted by all collectors and curators. The mines have now been closed for a few years and good examples are very difficult to acquire. The thumbnail shown here is excellent. A glassy gem quality transparent terminated prismatic crystal measuring 2.5 cm in length is set on a small amount of matrix. The matrix is coated by small sparkling gemmy crystals of anglesite. The main crystal is free-standing and clean all around. There is no damage or chipping. There is a slightly milky white area forming a band through the center of the crystal; this is all internal. The quality is excellent; the specimen is very pretty!

This is a very strange and neat large double terminated lustrous purple apatite crystal grouping measuring 11.0 x 4.4 x 3.8 cm in size without matrix. There are secondary crystals stepped upon a main large crystal. Complete all around 360 degrees. The crystal grouping is partly transparent to good translucency. No damage. A superb large crystal for the species! Mr. Tate acquired this piece through a deaccession auction at the Houston Museum in the late 1990's. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.

Superb glassy partly transparent striated squat purple to yellow color zoned crystals of apatite-(CaF), the largest measuring 4.2 cm across, set on a earthy matrix of crystallized albite. Completely free of damage and chipping; the quality for an apatite-(CaF) crystal of this size is outstanding. Minor quartz in association. Size: 9.7 x 8.0 x 5.3 cm.

A superb highly lustrous slightly translucent purple apatite-(CaF) crystal measuring 1.1 x 1.1 x 0.8 cm in size is set nicely upon a 5.5 x 4.0 x 1.5 cm matrix. The matrix is mostly coated by sparkling white quartz crystals. The crystal shows on both sides of the matrix. Tiny microscopic chipping is present on one crystal edges as seen in the photos. Overall in very good condition considering the size of the crystal for this locality. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. The piece dates back to the 1960's. I originally sold this specimen back in the 1990's. It came out of a collection in Wabash, Indiana; the name of the owner at that time now escapes me. Ref: The Mineralogical Record 8 (2), 72-77: King, V. T. and Szenics, T., (2008): Pulsifer Quarry, Androscoggin County, Maine. American Mineral Treasures.

A very fine and choice combination cabinet sized piece from this important locality! The specimen consists of a 11.2 x 6.7 x 4.8 cm matrix, this hosting numerous glassy partly transparent dark green apatite-(CaF) crystals to 3.2 cm across. On the right side of the matrix are brown crystals of siderite to 3.0 cm on edge, these forming a 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm cluster. The best apatite crystal is free-standing and complete all around 360 degrees. There is very minimal cleaving to a few of the siderite crystals, these around the base of the cluster. These can be seen in the photos. Overall I feel that this is in excellent condition damage-wise. This was originally part of the Marion Stuart collection and comes with a data card. Sits perfectly for display. The quality is excellent for a cabinet sized Panasqueira piece. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 2: 73-78.

1041165) Apophyllite-(KF) with Stilbite - Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India

Two superb glassy partly gem quality deep green terminated apophyllite-(KF) crystals to 7.0 cm in height are coming aesthetically off a matrix with pale peach colored crystals of stilbite. Measures 8.7 x 6.3 x 5.3 cm in size. Completely crystallized all around 360 degrees and damage-free. The quality and size of the crystals is outstanding. The taller crystal is slightly cloudy within the area near the termination; this does not terribly detract from the beauty of the piece though. The color is beautiful. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 34: 29-33.

T0378) Azurite - 200 level, Copper Queen Mine (Halero Mine), Queen Hill, Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

This is a "killer" thumbnail specimen for Bisbee! Superb blue lustrous bladed crystals of azurite, sharply formed and free-standing, measuring to 21 mm in size are set aesthetically upon a small amount of matrix. The crystals are good 360 degrees around. One microscopic chip to the most minor crystal on the specimen, and this on the back of the piece, is the only blemish. The specimen is razor sharp and extremely clean and free of damage. Size: 22 x 20 x 24 mm. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #T0378 with data card. The card notes that at first Jim and Dawn thought that the specimen was from Chessy. They had Dick Graeme confirm the location as the 200 level in the Copper Queen Mine, circa 1885. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 12: 256-319.

1020431) Azurite - Boomerang Mine Mt Maggie Mine), Mount Kelly, Gunpowder District, Mt Isa - Cloncurry area, Queensland, Australia

This mine has produced some of Australia's finest azurite specimens. Clusters of crystals were found in a kaolinite; these were mostly treated as ore and few specimens survived. The mine closed in 1972. This specimen consists of a large rosette spherical aggregate of beautiful sparkling deep blue azurite crystals measuring 9.8 x 9.2 x 5.6 cm in size overall. Very richly crystallized on the front side and clean of damage and chipping. Not crystallized on the back side of the piece as shown in the photos. This is about as large in size as these azurite specimens attained, and of excellent quality. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #WW431. Their data card notes that this was previously in the Demetrius Pohl collection, and that he collected the specimen off the ore pile just before it was to go to the smelter. Ref: The Mineralogical Record, 19; 486-487.

A neat old-time cabinet piece from one of the world's most important mineral localities. An undulating 16 x 17.5 x 8.4 matrix, this almost like a "shell", the top completely covered by sparkling dark blue micro crystals of azurite. No damage; the back side of the piece is limonitic matrix with minor azurite and malachite. A superb large cabinet piece collected in the late 1800's. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #WW093 with data card. The specimen was part of the special Memorial Exhibit at the 2002 East Coast Gem and Mineral Show; a label for this accompanies the specimen. An absolutely beautiful and superb matrix-less crystal grouping of lustrous dark bluish-black terminated azurite crystals measuring 2.9 x 2.9 x 4.7 cm in size overall. Complete all around nicely 360 degrees. Just very slight chipping is present on the front side termination of the main crystal. Despite this, the quality is exceptional with great luster and very large sharply formed crystals for the species. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection WW321. A truly superb miniature!
