Fine acanthite specimens have been known from this locality for the past several years. Rarely are the crystals super sharp. The example shown here exhibits excellent sharp cubic crystals of metallic semi-lustrous gray acanthite to 0.9 cm on edge scattered over crystalline acanthite and breccia matrix. There are at least 6 excellent crystals present; the piece is undamaged. This is very fine for acanthite regardless of the locality. Size: 7.0 x 6.0 x 4.3 cm.

No damage. Very rich for the species from this locality! Ref: The Mineralogical Record 36(1), 45-57.

Very neat combination specimen with a large colorless transparent tabular barite crystal measuring 6.0 x 4.6 x 1.7 cm in size size perched up aesthetically on a matrix of crystallized quartz. More than 70% of China's aquamarine jewellery is manufactured in this region of China. Very few good crystals are currently available on the collector market as almost every good stone, whether a good crystal or not, is used for cutting. The double terminated crystal shown here is very good. Partly gemmy and with a pleasant blue color, the crystal measures 5.2 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm in size. Microscopic chipping is present along the termination edges, the extent of this visible in the photos. Weighs 19 grams. Completely crystallized all around and in excellent condition. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: Liu, Fine Minerals of China (2006), pages 308-309.

This is a neat "floater" doubly terminated metallic silvery grouping of bournonite crystals measuring 5.5 x 3.2 x 3.1 cm in size overall. While this has the appearance of one large single complete crystal, it is actually composed of many small needle-like crystals. No damage - an interesting specimen!

Size: 4.2 x 4 x 3.6 cm (miniature)
Price: $ 1500

Some of the world's finest examples for this species have come from this Chinese locality. The miniature shown here is excellent, exhibiting a squat lustrous metallic sharply formed single crystal measuring 4.2 x 4 x 3.6 cm in size overall. This is a "floater" with no points of attachment. The crystal is actually doubly terminated and completely crystallized all around; even with a 10x loupe I cannot find any damage or chipping. What is on the bottom and sides is all naturally crystallized. Very fine and choice for the species! There is a very slight iridescence present in some areas of the crystal. Ref: Rocks & Minerals 80(1), 46-57.

B2223456) Bournonite - Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

An outstanding glassy water clear transparent twinned calcite crystal measuring 6.3 x 5.8 x 4.3 cm in size overall. Complete all around. Very slight and minor chipping is present on some edges, typical of these. Overall this is in great condition damage-wise - the quality is outstanding and matches anything from Dal'negorsk or Egremont in terms of transparency and clarity. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: Ottens (2008) China; page 148.

A beautiful choice superb glassy reddish-brown to colorless glassy transparent twinned calcite crystal measuring 4.0 x 2.4 x 1.8 cm in size is set perfectly upon a calcite crystal coated matrix. There are several other smaller twins present as well. The left termination on the main crystal is just very slightly "rubbed" as seen in the photos; outside of this the specimen is perfect. Very showy, this is from the important finds at this mine in the late 1990's. Measures 6.0 x 5.0 x 2.7 cm in size overall and the main crystal is complete all around 360 degrees. Ref: Liu, Fine Minerals of China, pp 186-195.

Very fine and choice for the species from a new find.
