1044367) Beryl - Aletai Prefecture, Yili Hasake Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, China Size: 5.2 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm (miniature) Price: $ 450 ex. Lloyd Tate Collection
More than 70% of China's aquamarine jewellery is manufactured in this region of China. Very few good crystals are currently available on the collector market as almost every good stone, whether a good crystal or not, is used for cutting. The double terminated crystal shown here is very good. Partly gemmy and with a pleasant blue color, the crystal measures 5.2 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm in size. Microscopic chipping is present along the termination edges, the extent of this visible in the photos. Weighs 19 grams. Completely crystallized all around and in excellent condition. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: Liu, Fine Minerals of China (2006), pages 308-309. 1021106) Beryl - Ankara, near Gwantu, Kaduna State, Nigeria Size: 2.3 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm (thumbnail) Price: $ 2500 ex. Dawn and Jim Minette
An exceptional and beautiful clean bluish-green (more green and described as emerald) grouping of matrix-less prismatic terminated crystals measuring 2.3 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm in size. Complete all around and very clean of damage. A superb crystal grouping - the quality is excellent! Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #T1106 with data card. There is a lot of good information about the mine on the data card. Jim visited the locality in 1993; he states that this crystal was collected around 1980. He mentions that he had the "pick" of the thumbnails, but there were larger crystals in this pocket measuring to 7.5 cm in length. WW288) Beryl - Chivor Mine, Chivor, Guavio-Guateque Mining District, Boyacá Department, Colombia Size: 33 x 22 x 22 mm (thumbnail) Price: $ 2000 ex. Dawn and Jim Minette
Beautiful translucent richly colored green prismatic crystals of terminated emerald are sort of stacked into a parallel cluster of crystals without matrix. Slight contacting is present on what I consider to be the back side of the crystal grouping. To my naked eye this is undamaged; with a 10x loupe I can find sparse minimal tiny chipping on some crystal edges. The color and luster is excellent. Size: 33 x 22 x 22 mm. Very sharp faces and corners. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #WW288 with data card. 1044394) Beryl - Chumar Bakhoor, Hunza Valley, Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan Size: 15.5 x 8.0 x 7.2 cm (large cabinet) Price: $ 4475 ex. Lloyd Tate Collection
An aesthetic and very showy classic example for this locality. Blue glassy near transparent blue aquamarine crystals to 6.0 cm in size are set very nicely on a matrix of silvery crystallized muscovite. The crystals show well all around 360 degrees. No damage. Measures 15.5 x 8.0 x 7.2 cm. The quality is excellent. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. 1044357) Beryl - Coronel Murta, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil Size: 3.8 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm (miniature) Price: $ 2800 ex. Lloyd Tate Collection
A very unusual and attractive gem crystal specimen! The specimen consists of a squat single termination heliodor crystal measuring 3.8 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm in size. There are two different generations of growth present. The bottom part of the crystal is near colorless and opaque; there are natural fractures in this part but the piece is very stable. The crystal is then topped off with a "cap" of gem naturally etched yellow heliodor beryl. Complete all around 360 degrees and free of damage.
