An outstanding branching well crystallized old-time grouping of metallic semi-lustrous acanthite measuring 6.7 x 3.4 x 2.0 cm in size overall. Completely crystallized all around 360 degrees; damage-free. Ex Lloyd Tate collection; prior to Mr. Tate this was in the collection of Gerald Herfurth. The previous label came to Mr. Tate from the Herfurth collection. A superb classic Mexican specimen.

A 2.3 x 1.9 x 1.8 cm matrix of crystallized colorless calcite is hosting an attractive and aesthetic grouping of lustrous metallic stacked cubic crystals of acanthite to 0.3 cm in size. The crystals are sharply formed and completely undamaged; the luster is excellent. Overall this one is very attractive and excellent for this classic old German silver mining district! Fine acanthite specimens have been known from this locality for the past several years. Rarely are the crystals super sharp. The example shown here exhibits excellent sharp cubic crystals of metallic semi-lustrous gray acanthite to 0.9 cm on edge scattered over crystalline acanthite and breccia matrix. There are at least 6 excellent crystals present; the piece is undamaged. This is very fine for acanthite regardless of the locality. Size: 7.0 x 6.0 x 4.3 cm.

This is an outstanding well crystallized acanthite for China! The crystals are very sharply formed, measure to 15 mm on edge, and show a good luster and color for the species. Completely crystallized all around and free of damage. Minor native silver in association. Measures 5.3 x 4.5 x 3.4 cm in size overall. The quality is exceptional for the species!

Located about 20 km east of Boumalne-Dadès, this silver mine has recently been producing some very good specimens. The miniature shown here is excellent for acanthite, with dendritic semi-lustrous metallic sparkling crystals forming a matrix-less floater cluster. Complete all around and damage-free. The largest crystal measures almost 4.0 cm in length. Very nice!

An outstanding small miniature or "toe-nail" for acanthite, especially for this Moroccan locality! The specimen consists of one lustrous metallic silver spiky crystal grouping of acanthite measuring 24 mm in height coming straight off a small amount of matrix. Measures 22 x 11 x 34 mm in size overall and is complete all around. Undamaged and very fine and choice! Ref: The Mineralogical Record 20(5), 396.

From the recent finds at this locality. A fine well crystallized dullish black to gray grouping of acanthite measuring 7 x 5.7 x 2.9 cm in size overall. Complete all around and a "floater" with no points of attachment. I can find no damage on the specimen anywhere, even looking close with a 10x loupe. This is very rich and large for acanthite; the crystallized is quite neat with branching dendritic crystals. Choice.

A superb well crystallized thumbnail for acanthite! Three prominent cubic faces, lustrous and black, are standing straight up from a small crystallized grouping of acanthite. Measures 17 x 13 x 23 mm in size and is complete all around 360 degrees. No damage. The silver mines around Freiberg in Saxony began serious operation around the 14th century. The district is most notable to mineral collectors for fine silver minerals. The acanthite miniature shown above is one such example. Superb well formed crystals of acanthite to 6 x 6 mm in size are "draped" over a matrix of crystallized colorless quartz. The crystals show "all around" and are undamaged. Some exhibit twinning. This is a very fine Freiberg acanthite miniature measuring 2.8 x 1.5 x 4 cm in size overall. I had this one once before and have recently reacquired it. Ref: Lapis 11(7/8), 13-60 (1986).

A 3.7 x 3.2 x 2.0 cm matrix, the top covered by excellent idiomorphic lustrous crystals of adamite to 1.5 cm in length. No damage. The adamite crystals grade from a greenish-yellow to reddish-brown in color; even some reddish-purple color is present. Neat for this species! Ex Lloyd Tate collection.

A superbly crystallized miniature for green adamite! Lustrous beautiful green translucent crystals of adamite to 6 mm in size are set aesthetically upon a 4.3 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm limonite matrix. No damage. From a new (2008) find. Good green "cuprian adamite" specimens were never common from this famous locality. Ref: The Mineralogical Record, 34(5), 1-91.

A 10.3 x 5.2 x 3.2 cm matrix, the top covered by sparkling gorgeous yellow to yellowish-green adamite crystals. The crystals are undamaged and average 0.4 cm in size; the crystals are translucent and very glassy. This is a fine and choice attractive piece. Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection #WW504.
